Human Activity is Causing the Sixth Mass Extinction and Threatening Wildlife

by Ariana García Carranza in Uncategorized

March 3rd marked the celebration of World Wildlife Day, a day that comes amongst the biggest human-caused wildlife crisis in history. Humanity has wiped out 60% of mammals, birds, fish, and reptiles since 1970 and experts warn that the biological annihilation of wildlife will have serious ecological, economic and social consequences, threatening the survival of civilization. A sixth mass extinction in Earth’s history is underway and is more severe than previously feared.

The animals and plants that live in the wild have an intrinsic value and contribute to the ecological, genetic, social, economic, scientific, educational, cultural, recreational and aesthetic aspects of human well-being and sustainable development. Only by addressing both ecosystems and climate do we stand a chance of safeguarding a stable planet for humanity’s future on Earth. At Primal, we have always been aware of the multitude of benefits wildlife conservation provides and have made it our goal to transform the conventional agricultural model into a sustainable one that protects both wildlife and the environment, while promising higher, long-term yields. As the world’s largest commercial neem plantation, we not only use 100% organic and sustainable inputs to grow the highest quality neem trees and nurture the soil, but also make various efforts to protect wildlife on our plantations: spotters help us identify and protect areas inhabited by wildlife, while protected paths and speed limits allow animals to safely access water sources without being harmed. Additionally, our personal care brand, ViTA, uses the world’s first and currently only bottles made from 100% OceanBound plastic, sourced from areas at risk of polluting the oceans and killing millions of marine lives.

We believe in a sustainable and responsible future where all companies will have to factor their environmental impact into their business model and make protecting wildlife and the environment a priority. That’s why our project is more than just a plantation, it is an ecosystem, and a sustainable agriculture model that will help prevent deforestation and soil erosion, while also guaranteeing profits and safe returns.
